Braintree MP Sir James Cleverly joined Minister for Rail Lord Peter Hendy and Deputy Leader of Essex County Council Cllr Louise McKinlay to officially open the new station near Junction 19 of a A12 in Chelmsford.

The new station at Beaulieu Park, with over 700 car parking spaces, gives Braintree commuters an additional option for commuting into London. In the future, when the Chelmsford North-East Bypass is completed, it will be just a 20 minute drive from Braintree to Beaulieu Park and a 35–40 minute train into London Liverpool Street.

Sir James said:

“This piece of infrastructure is about unlocking the potential of our wonderful county and in particular this bit of Essex.

“It is not just about moving people around the map - it is about making sure this area has its full potential unlocked."

“Cllr Louise McKinlay has been personally heavily involved in this project with wider partners. Thank you for everything you all have done to help make this project a reality.”
