More Safer Streets funding for Halstead

Local MP James Cleverly meets with Essex Police Chief Constable B-J Harrington, Police Fire & Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst, Braintree District Council, and Halstead Town Council to hear about the work they have been doing with the Safer Streets initiative in Halstead.

James said:

“Braintree District Council and PFCC Roger Hirst have successfully brought £300,223 of funding to Essex from the Home Office Safer Streets Grant Fund. This is to make communities even safer with extra street lighting and additional crime prevention work.

“The money has been match-funded with over £150,000 from Halstead Town Council (HTC), Essex Police, the Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse (CARA), Fusion Lifestyle, Neighbourhood Watch (NW), Essex Youth Service (EYS), Essex County Council Eastlight Community Homes and Crimestoppers.

“I was pleased to be updated by Chief Constable Harrington that crime is down in Essex and it’s down in Halstead.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe in the areas which they live and I am pleased to see Essex Police's firm commitment to protecting and reassuring our communities.”
